01

Overview

IdeaPlugins Callback is a WordPress callback-request widget for businesses that want visitors to ask for a phone call. It works without WooCommerce and can automatically capture page context; when WooCommerce is active, product-page context is also recorded.

Quick start: use Display for visibility and placement, Form for visitor-facing content and fields, Appearance for visual styling, Popup for popup behavior, and Advanced for notifications, spam protection and developer controls.

Display modes

  • Left Side — floating vertical trigger on the left edge.
  • Right Side — floating vertical trigger on the right edge.
  • Bottom Fixed — full-width bar fixed to the bottom.

Left/Right modes can open the form as a Slide Panel or Popup. Bottom Fixed uses the bottom bar.

02

Installation & First Setup

Installation

  1. Go to Plugins → Add New → Upload Plugin.
  2. Upload the IdeaPlugins Callback ZIP.
  3. Activate the plugin.
  4. Open Callback in the WordPress admin menu.
Defaults are ready: the widget starts enabled, uses Bottom Fixed, and is enabled for desktop, tablet and mobile.

Recommended setup order

  1. Display → choose position, device visibility, targeting and reveal timing.
  2. Form → change title, subtitle, CTA and optional fields.
  3. Appearance → match trigger/bar colors, sizes and animations.
  4. Popup → only when a side mode uses Popup.
  5. Advanced → enable email notifications and review spam protection.

Each major section has its own Save changes action.

03

Dashboard

The Dashboard summarizes callback activity.

  • Total Requests — all stored requests.
  • New Requests — requests awaiting follow-up.
  • Contacted — requests your team has contacted.
  • Completed — requests marked completed.

Quick actions

View Requests, Configure Display and Customize Form provide direct navigation.

Recent requests

The dashboard shows recent name, phone, email, page, date and status information. New requests are highlighted and the dashboard can refresh its snapshot automatically.

04

Callback Requests

Use Callback → Callback Requests to manage stored leads.

Search & filters

Search covers name, phone, email and company. Status filters are New, Contacted and Completed.

Sorting

Name, phone, date and status can be sorted. Results are paginated.

Request information

A request can contain name, phone, email, company, message, preferred callback time, department, service, additional information, page title, page URL, post ID, product ID when applicable, category, status, IP address, user agent and timestamps.

Actions

The admin interface supports request management actions including status changes, copying phone/email, viewing request information and permanent deletion of individual requests.

Reset is different from delete: Reset to defaults changes settings only; it never deletes callback requests.
05

Display

Open Callback → Display to control where, when and on which devices the widget appears.

09

Advanced

Open Callback → Advanced. It contains Notifications, Spam Protection and Developer tabs.

Notifications

  • Enable email notifications
  • Notification email
  • Email subject
  • Email template

Supported placeholders: {name}, {phone}, {email}, {page_title}, {page_url}, {site_name}.

Spam Protection

  • Honeypot — hidden field for simple bots; filled honeypot submissions are not stored.
  • Rate limiting — repeated submissions are restricted.
  • Rate limit window — 5–600 seconds; default 30.
  • Duplicate detection window — 1–1440 minutes; default 10.

Developer

  • Debug mode — browser-console diagnostics.
  • Disable animations.
  • Respect “reduce motion” system setting.
  • Custom CSS.
  • Delete all data on uninstall.
  • Reset to defaults — settings only; requests are preserved.
10

Email Notifications

Go to Advanced → Notifications, enable notifications, enter the destination address, then customize subject/template and save.

Delivery uses WordPress wp_mail(). Reliable delivery therefore depends on the site's mail/SMTP setup. The request is stored before notification handling, so a notification failure does not intentionally invalidate an already-saved request.

11

WooCommerce Integration

WooCommerce is optional. When active, a submission from a WooCommerce product page can store the relevant product ID in addition to page context. The plugin does not require WooCommerce cart or checkout functionality.

12

Responsive & Accessibility

Desktop, Tablet and Mobile visibility can be controlled independently from Display. The frontend uses semantic buttons, dialog attributes and ARIA labels. Reduced-motion support is included, and animations can also be disabled from Advanced.

13

Data, Privacy & Security

Stored data

Requests are stored in a dedicated table using the WordPress database prefix and the ideaplnewplg20i_requests table name.

Security

  • Frontend nonce validation.
  • Admin nonce and manage_options capability checks.
  • Server-side sanitization and validation.
  • Prepared database queries / WordPress database APIs.
  • Honeypot and rate/duplicate protection.

Privacy

Requests may contain contact information, IP address and user agent. The site owner is responsible for privacy notices, retention and legal compliance appropriate to their use.

Uninstall

By default, deactivation/deletion does not remove requests. Full cleanup occurs only if Delete all data on uninstall was enabled before deletion.

14

Updates & Safe Settings

Each settings group is stored independently, so saving one section does not reset unrelated settings. Installation/upgrade routines are additive and designed to preserve existing settings and callback requests.

Safe update behavior: normal plugin updates do not intentionally delete callback request data.
15

Troubleshooting

Widget not visible

  1. Check Display → Enable widget.
  2. Check Desktop/Tablet/Mobile visibility.
  3. Review visibility rule and IDs.
  4. Check reveal timing.
  5. Check the close cooldown.
  6. Clear relevant cache layers.

Email not arriving

Confirm notifications are enabled and the address is valid. Test the site's WordPress mail/SMTP configuration because the plugin uses wp_mail().

Widget stays hidden

Review Don't show again after close. A non-zero value intentionally hides it for that number of hours after closing.

Need diagnostics

Use Advanced → Developer → Debug mode to add diagnostic information to the browser console.
